ISTANBUL: The jailed leader of the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Monday called on the Syrian Democratic Forces to pursue solutions in Syria other than through conflict, according to a statement read by his lawyers.
Abdullah Ocalan, who has been jailed in Turkey since 1999, also called on the SDF, which is spearheaded by the Kurdish YPG militia, to take into consideration Turkish sensitivities in Syria, his lawyers said.
Two of Ocalan's lawyers, who read the statement during a news conference, said they had been allowed to meet him for the first time since July 2011.
